About the Role
Summary
Develop complete turnkey design for the electrical portion of projects, which includes the development of programs and sequence of operation for PLC programs on new equipment. The effort will contribute to the complete electrical hardware and software control design for new equipment.
Sr. Controls Engineers may lead other controls, electrical, and design engineers, be involved with customer reviews, set design directions, establish schedules, and maintain budget requirements.
Reports to: Director of Engineering
Duties & Responsibilities
Leading/assisting in all technical phases of design effort
Electrical panel design
Produce electrical schematic drawings.
PLC programming and development
Identifying potential scope changes/problem areas
Assuming accountability of assigned responsibilities
Developing project scope definition.
Writing technical documents
Provide verbal and written communications internally and to customers on areas of controls programming and design.
Direct electrical designers, CAD drafters, and other controls engineers on a project basis.
Develop schedules and track against actuals
Plan, track, and report progress against budgets
Lead customer design reviews
HMI programming and development.
Robot programming.
Vision programming.
Machine bring-up.

Requirements
Education & Experience
Two (2) year technical degree with fifteen (15) years’ experience or twenty (20) years related experience or four (4) year Technical/Technology degree with ten (10) years’ experience.
Training
All training deemed essential and required by law.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to develop programs for automated equipment and interface hardware
Specialized training in automated design and programming software (i.e., AutoCAD, Allen Bradley PLC, Siemens PLC).
Personal computer literate (i.e., Excel, M.S. Word, M.S. Project, Windows).
Vision system knowledge
Robot programming knowledge
Clear verbal and written communications skills
Ability to evaluate project priorities and risk to plan accordingly to meet project budget and deliveries
