About the Role
Summary
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will provide engineering solutions for Custom Automation equipment. The goal is to lead the mechanical design direction of machine design as it relates to a specific project. This position requires balancing design direction with budgets and customer needs to ensure projects are designed to high quality and on schedule.
This role requires leading technical discussion internally and with the customer to communicate design intent. Evaluating costs of designs as compared to project estimate are critical to ensure projects are delivered on budget. Planning of design tasks, evaluating proper technologies, providing technical review/feedback, and guiding other engineers on specific project design tasks are skills needed in this position.
Reports to: Director of Engineering
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical engineering support on projects being executed on the manufacturing floor (support includes design, build guidance, materials, and resolving quality issues)
Identifying potential scope changes/problem areas.
Assuming accountability of assigned responsibilities.
Developing project scope definition.
Writing technical documents.
Performing advanced technical calculations.
Checking drawings for drawing quality and design quality.
Provide technical guidance to other engineers through reviews, technical discussions, and design feedback.
Lead design reviews, internally and with customer.Assisting in all technical phases of the quotation process (concept designs, cost analysis, and proposal generation).
Producing detailed designs and component drawings, which include all information required for the complete fabrication of the part/assembly/process.
Providing mecha
Provide overall design direction on a project basis.

Requirements
Education & Experience
Two (2) year Associate Technical degree with fifteen (15) years’ experience, and/or Four (4) years Technical/Technology Bachelor’s degree with six (6) years’ experience.
Required Training
All training deemed essential and required by law.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Specialized training in machine design software (i.e., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
Custom Automation experience including quoting, design, and build activities
Specialized training in industrial drafting standards.
Personal computer literate (i.e., Excel, M.S. Word, M.S. Project, Windows).
In-depth training/experience in all aspects of design, definition, project, fabrication, and construction
Strong decision-making capabilities and high accountability
Solid understanding of change management
Effective spoken and written communication skills
